Living in Miamisburg, Ohio
Riverfront Park has an amphitheater, a splash pad, a pavilion and swinging benches over the Great Miami River, with the recreation trail running right through it. Sycamore Trails Park adds pickleball, disc golf, a fishing pond and paved trails. Main Street has Bullwinkle's Top Hat Bistro and the Hamburger Wagon. And you can climb the steps of the Miamisburg Mound, an ancient burial mound in a city park.
Downtown fills up all year. Spring Fest in the Burg takes over Riverfront Park and Main Street every May with a parade, live music and a carnival. On Thanksgiving morning the Turkey Trot starts at Riverfront Park and brings the whole town downtown. Summer has a concert series, and the holiday parade and tree lighting come the first Saturday in December. The Baum Opera House, built in 1884, hosts events too.
The homes vary a lot. Brick houses near downtown, built in the 1800s and early 1900s, have character and charm, and there are 1970s subdivisions, golf course neighborhoods like PipeStone and Crains Run and new developments such as Deer Valley. Riverfront Park and the river trail
On Water Street, between the Main Street storefronts and the river. The city reopened it in May 2024 after a rebuild: a permanent amphitheater with its own sound and lights, a splash pad, a pavilion, ping-pong tables, swinging benches hung out over the water, more parking and new trees. The Great Miami River Recreation Trail runs through the park, so you're on the regional paved trail system from downtown without loading a bike onto a car. South of town, Crains Run Nature Park picks up the riverbank section, and the Great-Little Trail links Crains Run to Austin Landing, where there's a bike hub with covered storage, restrooms, a repair station and lockers. The Great Miami River is open for paddling from Miamisburg toward Franklin.
The Miamisburg Mound
On Mound Avenue. A conical Adena burial mound, built on a hill above the river thousands of years ago, and one of the two largest of its kind in eastern North America. Concrete steps lead to the top. The site has been a park since 1920, went to the Ohio Historical Society in 1929 and is on the National Register; the city park around it has picnic areas. The climb is worth doing once with a visitor.
Market Square Historic District
Central Avenue and Main Street. Both sides of Main, with buildings in Second Empire, Italianate and Queen Anne styles, most from 1850 onward, listed on the National Register in November 1975. The 1851 Market Building started with open arched market stalls on the ground floor that were later bricked in for a police station and jail. The 1884 Baum Opera House is an event venue now; the Daniel Gebhart Tavern at Lock and Old Main is a museum, and the Historical Society runs its History Center on Fifth Street. On and near Main: Bullwinkle's Top Hat Bistro (open since 1986), the Hamburger Wagon on Market Street (more than a century in business), Star City Brewing on South 2nd, Ron's Pizza, Bennett's Publical and Curious Styles & Coffee Shop.
Sycamore Trails Park and the city parks
The city runs a full set of parks with trails, a skate park, a BMX track, a fishing pond and disc golf. The big one is Sycamore Trails, redone and reopened in September 2025: basketball, pickleball and tennis courts, a rebuilt fishing pond, a redesigned disc golf course, paved trail, an outdoor fitness area, a splash pad, restrooms and a permanent stage with tiered seating. Community Park has the BMX trail and skate park, and Rice Field is a baseball and softball complex. Mound Golf Course is a nine-hole course next to Mound Business Park; PipeStone Golf Club is an 18-hole course with a full clubhouse on the south side.
The Mound Laboratory site
The Atomic Energy Commission plant that opened in 1947 and ran under Monsanto grew out of the wartime Dayton Project. It's Mound Business Park now.
Events with dates
The ORRRC Turkey Trot leaves Riverfront Park on Thanksgiving morning, with a run and a fun run. Spring Fest in the Burg fills Riverfront Park for a weekend in mid-May with a Saturday parade down Main Street, live music, a carnival and vendors; it ran May 15 to 17 in 2026 and draws thousands. The Holiday Celebration is the first Saturday evening of December, parade and tree lighting on Main Street, December 5 in 2026. The Star City Concert Series runs in summer and Cruise the Burg brings the car show downtown; Boo in the Burg is October 22, 2026.

The oldest Miamisburg homes sit around Main Street, where the 1818 plat laid out the original small lots. The blocks around Market Square still hold 1890s to 1910s brick and frame houses with character and charm, some of them two-unit.

Then the golf-course and newer subdivisions on the south and west sides, including Crains Run and PipeStone Village around PipeStone Golf Club.
New construction is back after a long gap. Deer Valley sits west of PipeStone and south of Mound Business Park, with three- and four-bedroom houses.
